1975 · The beginning
My First Shop
In 1975, at twenty-one, I opened my first automotive repair shop in Vancouver, specializing in wheel alignments, suspension repairs, brakes and tune-ups. It was an exciting step, built on years of learning the trade and a determination to create something of my own.
From the beginning, I treated every customer’s vehicle as if it were my own. Honesty, quality workmanship and respect became the foundation of the business.
Alongside the shop, I built a race car for the quarter-mile track, competing in the C/Modified class. It was powered by a small-block Chevy turning 8,500+ RPM, with a tunnel-ram intake manifold topped by dual four-barrel carburetors. Racing gave me another way to put my mechanical skills to work and enjoy my passion for automobiles.
Word spread, customers returned, and that little shop laid the groundwork for everything that followed.
